(There’s more on FPS Limiter and 3 Booter on this thread at The Sims Daily forum, but you may need to register to see it.A mod/hack is a piece of code that you put in your game as either a package file or as replacement of a EA file. I also have no idea how badly it will tax my graphics card - I guess we’ll see! I use an FPS Limiter program to keep my game’s framerate at 30 (which I’ve been doing for a couple of years now) so hopefully that helps keep my card from fizzling out. I haven’t done any regular ol’ gameplay since I’ve had the HQ mod in, so I don’t know how it will affect that yet. I try to keep my “High Detail Lots” set to 1 when I’m moving around, to reduce lag, and then increase it only when I’m ready to take pictures. Things do take a while to render as I move around town, but that was always the case with this save - it has a TON of custom content. While building my lighthouse, I kept it at “High”. I’ve only had the HQ set to “Very High” when taking close-up pics of one of my Sims, so on that setting, I wasn’t paying much attention to objects or landscapes. That could just be my imagination, though. From what I understand, the HQ only modifies Sim detailing, but I feel like my ground textures look sharper, too.

Right now I’m experimenting with having it set to “low HQ” which is the “High” setting for Sim Details in the graphics panel (it is 1.25x normal rendering, whereas “Very High” is 2x normal). That way you don’t have to swap the file in or out every time you want to shift from HQ to no HQ (although I do reboot my game). :) I do leave the mod in my game because I’m using Simsl3gacies HQ tweaks, which allows you to adjust the HQ via the in-game graphics panel. Hi, anon! I’m new to using an HQ mod, so I’m still figuring things out.

Do you leave your hq mod in game when your playing? Does it affect anything else than sims? Like objects or landscape? And does it affect your game like lag or make your graphics card bad?
